Requirements are met through development of programs by EH&S and relevant faculty committees for implementation by campus departments as well as through direct services, consultation, and compliance assistance provided by EH&S.
This document defines the responsibility and accountability for the environmental, health, and safety program at the University of California, Berkeley.
The responsibility for ensuring that required programs are implemented and that required duties are carried out in an appropriate manner remains with the Academic and Non-Academic Manager.
EH&S is responsible for tracking developments in environmental and health and safety laws and regulations and determining (with the assistance of University legal counsel, and oversight from EH&S Policy Committee faculty committees in particular areas) requirements that apply to the campus.
